Wonder Boys Script

the following is my favorite "Wonder Boys Script"

" His heart, once capable of

inspiring others so completely...

could no longer inspire

so much as itself.

It beat now

only out of habit.

It beat now only--

because it could."

Wonder Boys(2000)
Directed by Curtis Hanson. With Michael Douglas, Tobey Maguire, Frances McDormand, Robert Downey Jr.

Quotes from Working Girl

Tess : [to Katherine] Look, you, maybe you’ve got everyone around here fooled with this saint act you have going, but do not ever speak to me again like we don’t know what really happened, you got me?
Katherine Parker: Tess, this is business. Let’s just bury the hatchet, okay?
Tess: You know where you can bury your hatchet? Now get your bony ass outta my sight!

Oren Trask: Now get your – what was that you called it?
Tess McGill, Jack Trainer: Bony ass.
Oren Trask: Right – your bony ass out of my sight!

Tess : You can bend the rules plenty once you get to the top, but not while you’re trying to get there. And if you’re someone like me, you can’t get there without bending the rules.
Oren Trask: You’ve got a real fire in your belly, or was this just a one-time stunt that you pulled?
Tess : I’m not quite sure what you mean, sir. I’ve got something in my belly, but I think it’s nervous knots.
Oren Trask: Gumption, Miss McGill.

Miss McGill character plays by Melanie Griffith as Tess McGill

The Bridge on the River Kwai

The most memorable quote from the movie is the Army POW Doctor Major Clipton's uttering.
"As he witnesses the carnage, Army POW Doctor Major Clipton shakes his head uttering: "Madness!...Madness!"

special re-post for Memorial Day to honor the warriors ‘The Hurt Locker’ Wins Big at 2010 Oscars (must see movie)

I was busy, didn’t have a chance to see on big screen, but able to see the DVD last night. “The Hurt Locker” won for best picture and Kathryn Bigelow won for best director. Director Kathryn totally deserved to win for her great art work.
The intro of the movie started with an unforgettable line
“WAR IS A DRUG.”
Director Kathryn used only 18 scenes to convey her feeling/thoughts and touched her audiences. In scene 17 Sergeant First Class William James (Jeremy Renner’s character) talked to his son (the following is Will’s remarkable script)
Sergeant First Class William James: "Yeah
You love playing with that.
You love playing with all your stuffed animals.
You love your mommy, your daddy, your nature pajamas.
You love everything, don't you? Yeah
You know what, buddy?
Once you get older,
some of the things that you love might not seem so special anymore.
Like your Jack In The Box,
Maybe you realize it's just a piece of tin and a stuffed animal
and then you forget the few things you really love,
And by the time you get to my age maybe it's only one or two things,
With me I think it's one,"

QUOTATIONS

"YOU COULD START BY CONVINCING A FRIEND" Interview with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi (Winner of the 1991 Nobel Prize in Peace)
From SHAMBALA SUN January 1996
http://www.burmalibrary.org/reg.burma/archives/199601/msg00079.html
HOW DOES BUDDHISM AFFECT YOUR PERSONAL LIFE, AND SOCIAL VISION AS WELL?
ASSK: Well, I was born a Buddhist and brought up a Buddhist, so it is very difficult for me to separate what is Buddhist in me from what is not Buddhist in me. It's a question that I find very difficult to answer.

Quoted from Aung San Suu Kyi (http://homepages.tesco.net/~ghoutman/pdfs/04part4.pdf)
she has said that there is no conflict between Buddhist and political pursuits, that ‘politics is about people, and you can't separate people from their spiritual values’.

Movie quotes
“Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks): I'm not a smart man, but I know what love is.”
“Forrest: Mama always said life was like a box a chocolates, never know what you're gonna get.”

Wonder Boys is a darkly comic ensemble film about finding your purpose, taking action and pushing forward to achieve it – don't sit idle ... James (Toby Maguire): “His heart, once capable of inspiring others so completely could no longer inspire so much as itself. It beat now only out of habit, it beat now only because it could. - The Film Nest Archive Films-U-Missed

Blast From the Past (1999) Troy = Brendan Fraser, Eve = Alicia Silverstone
"Manners are a way of showing other people we care about them.
Troy: He thinks I'm a gentleman and you're a lady.
Eve: [disgusted] Well, consider the source! I don't even know what a lady is.
Troy: I know, I mean I thought a "gentleman" was somebody that owned horses. But it turns out, his short and simple definition of a lady or a gentleman is, someone who always tries to make sure the people around him or her are as comfortable as possible.
Eve: Where do you think he got all that information?
Troy: From the oddest place - his parents. I mean, I don't think I got that memo from mine." |The Internet Movie Database|
