cinnamon bark aka 'thit-ja-bo-gauk'

I got myself Indian style spiced basmati rice lunch brought from home today. While having my lunch I did a little reseach about cinnamon bark which is one of the spice in my Indian style spiced basmatic rice lunch. Cinnamon is one of the oldest spices known to man. It is called 'thit-ja-bo-gauk' in Burmese. 'thit-ja-bo' is a naming of cinnamon, gauk means bark in Burmese. The cinnamon tree is a small evergreen of the Laureaceae family native to Sri Lanka. The bark is peeled, rolled into “quills” and sun-dried, while the residue, broken quills or inferior cinnamon, is ground to a fine powder. Cinnamon is an essential ingredient in most curry dish.
